First period- History. Officially the most BORING subject of all time. I swear, if I ever meet a Henry, Louis, or Catherine, they're going DOWN. Talked about Henry the VIII and his 7 wives, the Habsburg Empire, and a bunch of other crap. Those 45 minutes were the longest 45 minutes of my life. At least I thought they were. Finally, after constantly glancing back at the clock behind me, the bell rings. And she lets us out 3 minutes late. I throw my books into my locker, and run straight down the hallway, and down the ramp to the music building. Halfway down the ramp, and I hear the bell. Quicken up the pace, run up the stairs, sign myself in, run back down, kick off my shoes, and sit down in the Indian music room. Everybody else is already practicing, so I take a deep breath, and place my instrument on my lap. My teacher sits down and teaches me all these new, complicated, and fast taans (kind of like verses) for the upcoming Indian Music Concert. I practice hard, trying to remember what all I can. I practice for what seems like eternity, and then finally get up because my foot falls asleep. I sit back down, smile, and say, "Thank God, it's second last period already!". My classmates look at me like I'm crazy. "Rupal..., it's only second period." Those 45 minutes were officially the longest 45 minutes of my life. I was shocked. It felt like the end of the day! I was almost in tears, I STILL had a whole day of school left?! I would never survive. But thankfully, the bell rang 5 minutes later, and I headed back up the ramp for tea. Finally, some social time. :)
Tea wasn't too good, just cinnamon rolls. Went over to a group of friends who were complaining about various subjects, yes, we Woodstockers love to complain about literally EVERYTHING. I told my friends about my tragic story of how I thought it was second to last period... and they laughed. And then I was attacked (by the boys) about my height. They never stop. Got bored of them after a while (sometimes I do enjoy the attention), and made my way up to my locker. YES! I had study hall! But unfortunately, I had serious work to do. I had a HUGE essay due tomorrow and I wasn't even half done! Went up to MC Study Hall, signed in, waited for my junior friends, and made my way down to the library. No time to gossip with the 11th graders today. I logged onto a computer, and spent a full 45 minutes in deep thought. Trying to connect the dots, make sense, be formal, and be gramatically correct is NOT the easiest thing to achieve. Happy with the progress I made, I saved my document, logged off, and went to the bathroom... to check myself out. Ruffled my hair, pulled up my pants, blew my nose, and went back inside the library. Picked up my books, and the moment I walked out the door, the bell rang. I just have amazing timing. :)
Science. It may not be the most boring, but it's the most torturing (worse than History), because it's always right before lunch. And there are three bells that go off before we leave. Did something about conventional and organic farming. Pulled out my assignment book and wrote down my first assignment for the day, science project on environmental issues in organic farming. Yuck. Who cares about farming? Seriously, do they think that even ONE of us is going to end up being a farmer? I think NOT.
Anyways... ran down to lunch when the third bell rang. Finished my lunch fairly quickly, faster than my friends, and rushed back up to the highschool. I had a French quiz next period! Pulled out all my sheets, did my revision, and when I saw everybody swarming the hallways, I knew that the next class was about to start. Grabbed my french books, and made my way to the classroom, dodging the boys coming out of the bathroom. (Yes, the french room is meters away from the boys' bathroom). Again, my french teacher was late to class, cup of coffee in his hand, and the smell of cigarette smoke also mixed up somewhere there. No time to lose. As usual, we all spread out, the quizzes were handed to us, and we had all class to do it. It wasn't that hard, but I knew I messed up somewhere. After class, he held me back and asked me whether the quiz was 'interesting'. First of all, a quiz is NEVER interesting. But to make it happy, (and to get brownie points), I said, "This quiz was a new and unique application of what we have learned." He seemed satisfied with this, so I left.
Last period was the dreaded, MATH. One subject that I just SUCK at. We never do much, either we have some pop graded assignment, or he just assigns us something from the book. He never really checks to see whether we did the homework or not. Most of the time, kids just chat during Math. I try to do some work, but if it frustrates me, I never go on. Again, I sat alone (to help me to concentrate) and worked on the stuff he assigned us from last time. Pretty uneventful. FINALLY THE DAY WAS OVER! Once again, threw my books into my locker, but this time I strolled down the ramp to the Quad. Got my tea (carrot cake), and found a couple of friends. Chatted with them, finished eating, and went to chill at the gym. Basketball game! Couldn't help but stare at that exchange kid, he's kind of cute. But I know this 8th grader has a HUGE crush on him. Anywho, Woodstock won 48-24 to Wynberg Allen (our rival school). YAY WOODSTOCK! I'm pretty big on cheering on my team. After the game was over, everybody left, so I went down to the library to see if I could bug, distract, talk, or have fun with someone. Some of my friends were doing homework, ok, my CRUSH was doing his homework on the computer. So I pulled up a seat next to him and distracted him. And then he got distracted. So, he told me to leave. :P
Nothing left to do, I headed on home. And that was that.
XOXO RJ
